About KJÆR: Soaps

From scent memories to impact-driven soapmaking.

When I was 14, I sat on a bench in Kifissia, a beautiful leafy suburb of Athens, Greece. A woman walked by — elegant, confident, dressed in black leather and carrying what must have been a very expensive handbag. But it wasn’t her outfit that stayed with me. It was her scent. A perfume so captivating, it stirred something deep inside me. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong fascination with beautiful fragrances.

A few years later, my brother gave me two perfumes of his own — Burberry and Hugo Boss I still remember vividly. I began exploring how scent connects us to memory, emotion, identity.

At 18, I began studying chemical engineering. In one of our early chemistry classes, we learned about the saponification reaction — the very foundation of soapmaking. I was instantly hooked. It wasn’t just about molecules and reactions. It was about transformation — turning simple ingredients into something useful, even beautiful.

Fast forward to my career in industrial biotechnology and fermentation, where I realized something even deeper: it’s not just about science and technology — it's about culture, leadership, and purpose. I’ve led workshops on feedback culture and team dynamics. I’ve seen firsthand what happens when people feel empowered, connected, and inspired.

That’s why I started KJÆR: Soaps. A brand rooted in chemistry and craft, but powered by values — joy, purpose, scent, and impact. Every bar is handmade in Denmark. Natural. Vegan. Cruelty-free. And each one helps make the world a bit better.

Because to me, sustainability, ethics, and transparency shouldn’t be a marketing trick.
They should be the standard.

A Bar With Purpose

I wanted KJÆR to stand for something — to give back, just like others once gave to me.

When I was 12, I spent every spare moment skateboarding with my friends in the streets of Athens. One summer, we were hungry and short on cash, counting coins in front of a souvlaki shop. A delivery guy — someone probably earning minimum wage — walked up to us and handed us €5 with a smile. It was an act of pure kindness I never forgot.

That same summer, my friend’s skateboard broke, and we walked into a skate shop hoping for help. The woman at the counter handed us replacement parts for free, just because we asked. These small acts of generosity shaped how I see the world. And now, they shape KJÆR.

At KJÆR:, every soap bar is handmade, natural, cruelty-free — and part of a mission.
For every one third of our profits we donate a skateboard, skate shoes, or gear to a teenager who can’t afford them.

Through KJÆR:, I also want to share what I’ve learned — not just through soap, but through workshops that inspire others, from creative soapmaking to building culture in teams.

Whether you’re buying your first bar or joining our mission to give soaps to communities in need, thank you for being part of this story.
